For 25 years, I have observed and actively participated in the evolution of the European self-storage market. During this time, I have seen a succession of analyses, forecasts, and scenarios that, in my view, have often underestimated the speed and scale of the sector’s growth. <\/p>

Europe continues to be described as an emerging market<\/strong> characterized by insufficient supply. But the numbers and field experience tell a more dynamic story: European self-storage has demonstrated a capacity for growth that exceeded expectations<\/strong>, and I believe its potential remains largely untapped. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Two Fragmentations, One Great Opportunity<\/h4>

The key to the next growth cycle may lie precisely in the fragmentation that characterizes the European market. On one hand, there are hundreds of independent operators, often with limited portfolios and without access to the same technologies, capital, and organizational structures as the major players. Consolidation can therefore mean much more than increasing the number of facilities: it means professionalizing management, improving performance, and creating new efficiencies. <\/p>

On the other hand, there is fragmentation among different European countries. Languages, regulations, entrepreneurial cultures, and consumer behaviors make Europe very different from more homogeneous markets such as the United States, Canada, or Australia. <\/p>

And it is precisely this complexity, if managed correctly, that can become a competitive advantage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

“The real challenge, in my view, is not simply to build large multinational organizations. It is to build intelligent organizations capable of combining international capital, shared technologies, and common operating standards with local market knowledge and the agility of local enterprises.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After 25 years in the sector, I feel confident in making a new forecast: I believe the European self-storage market can double again in the next five years. This is not a certainty, but a conviction based on my experience in the industry and observation of its dynamics. <\/p>

The next chapter of European self-storage will not be written only by those who build the most facilities. It will be written by those who know how to connect markets, integrate entrepreneurial cultures, and transform European complexity into an opportunity. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
